Hi Everyone,

Wanted to let the community know about a great new sonata written by the incredible jazz pianist, Ethan Iverson. I'm really proud to have gotten the chance to record it with the composer on piano, and the album just came out today. (also has 5 other new sonatas for trumpet, violin, sax, clarinet, and marimba)

I think it's a great addition to our solo repertoire and would be well worth considering for future recital programs!

Here's a youtube link with a scrolling score if you're interested!

Happy Honking!

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed both the piece and your performance. It was also great to watch the score and think that it is approachable as an amateur. Challenging for certain, but I can see giving it a go and enjoying it.

100%!! You should do it! Think the accompaniment isn't crazy difficult either, let me know if you end up playing it!

Thanks. I’m on a bit of a dental work enforced hiatus but that should be over in a few more months. Then I’ll give it a go. Does he have a publisher for the pieces?

BTW, I found this page about the project very interesting.

Thanks for sharing. Unsurprisingly the accompaniment is remarkable. I love the role reversal, especially in the last movement.
