This horn is being sold for 250$ from a guy in town and I am wondering if it is worth grabbing.
Anybody have any info on this model?

Probably a scam or in really bad shape. Bach 36 is a pro level instrument and typically worth much more. At least $800 for a straight (no f attachment) version. Typically I do t see post Mt Vernon ones going for more than… maybe $1600

I bought a very early Elkhart for $200 on eBay. Deals like that do come up

If it's in town and you can meet in a safe public place, why not just meet and try it out? It could be they just want to get rid of it and don't care about getting everything it's worth. If it works well, just needs minor work, and doesn't seem like it's stolen, you might as well pick it up. They weren't pro horns, but I've picked up a few instruments for well under market value (a student yamaha cornet with just scratches for $60, a yamaha student flute that didn't need any work for $80, a different flute that at most needs a single key adjusted for $15, and a Besson tuba from around 1900 in actually good condition for $300).
