Are there any good recorded performances of Astor Piazzolla's "Oblivion" other than this one by Peter Steiner?

<YOUTUBE id="LyUpOsaiN9g">https://youtu.be/LyUpOsaiN9g?si=zcjfLrD69L1ljrfw</YOUTUBE>

I'm considering playing this, and wanted to listen to others who have performed it to see what they do with it. Unfortunately, the only performance I've found that is listenable is Steiner's. Can anyone link me to other good performances of this haunting little piece?

Thanks. :)

Thanks for posting! I enjoyed the arrangement with the cello and piano. Achilles Liarmakopolous did a pretty recording of Oblivion on a whole album of Piazzolla.

However, I feel that Astor’s own recordings are more interesting. I love how he captures the mystique but also makes it feel spontaneous and emotional. As a jazz musician, Dana, I think your own take will do it most justice.

Ben van Dijk did a pretty good job on his recordings

Seconding Harrison's suggestion of Van Dijk's recording. The arrangement he does was by Steven Verhelst, with brass band backing him up. I believe it's on Van Dijk's World Concerto CD.

But if you haven't listened to Piazzola's version you should. Hilary Hahn plays fiddle rather than slush pump, but I find her performance beautiful.

Interesting. The next one that popped up for me was this one:

and it seems far more lyrical, almost a different piece than Steiner's digital style. Though I have to say I'm no fan of scooping to the high note in a phrase.
