Hello everyone - I've always fancied doing this beautiful number by Mr. Sinatra but never ever got round to fully listen to the words, so decided to do this and do my best to recreate Frank's phrasing which is so difficult as his voice is so smooth and sung / phrased it very much like a slide Trombone, he was so good.

Anyway... this is my Tribute to Mr. Sinatra but not in the style of George Roberts ( sorry Leif ) I will do one :horror:

I do hope you get a chance to have a listen, and you may need to pump up the volume :good:

Best, Al

I thought you sounded very nice, with a good Conn sound! Tell us more, like where did you get the backing track and what was your recording equipment. I'm just curious. Can you play it well one octave lower? That's tough to do and sound as musical as you did. :good: :good: :good: :good: :good:

Mr412 - Thanks for the nice words, this means a lot. To answer your questions.

It could be played an Octave lower, however, I personally don't think it would sound right, I don't mean to be rude by saying this, the pitch I'm playing is the exact pitch Mr. Sinatra played on Billy May's arrangement and the backing I used on this song, Frank sang in the Trombone voice range, so really he was one of us.

The backing track is a little secret which I plan on sharing with everyone some day, unlimited All original backing tracks, thousands, all high quality and totally free to download, this is probably THE biggest database of Free backing tracks on the planet, I promise everyone will be amazed when I do share, my only concern is how many years of your life you will lose going through all the different tracks, Tens of thousands.

My equipment is as follows: My

Mic is a Cascade Fathead II Ribbon Mic which eliminates most of the clunks and breath sounds you normally get with other Mics.

Audio Interface is a Focusrite Clarett+2PRE ( 2024 )

DAW is BandLad Cakewalk which I'm still learning to edit, it can get a little tricky sometimes.

I hope this helps, Thanks Alan ;)

I was going to talk about what a wonderful job you did playing this, but now all I can think about is your "little secret." Surely, if there are "tens of thousands" of "all original backing tracks," it can't be much of a secret. Others must use it. You're just keeping it from your friends here. So, spill it! I'm ready to lose years of my life. :)

Oh boy I'm ready to lose some years if I can fill them with backing tracks :-)

Hey you Guys - I'm really feeling the pressure a little here about my "little secret", and Ye ! I may have over egged my figures a little, maybe it's like Nine's of thousands of free tracks instead of Ten's of thousands, yes All free to download. This site actually allows you to change the key and tempo as well, but enough of winding you guys up, I'm off out again tonight so I will try and reveal all over the weekend. Until then, hold on tight my friends. :pant:

Nice sound with your Conn 70h! :good: It makes me inspired to play my 70h today. One coffee and a little slide cream, then I'm ready!

Yes, now we all are very curious where to explore all this backing tracks? And also curious how to you get the pulse in this slow tune? No help from hi-hat or ride cymbal there?

Anyway, thanks for the nice music!
