Does anyone know if any of the usual mute companies make a Cleartone for bass trombone? H&B doesn't seem to have anything.

Any substitute recommendations? For reference, I have been asked to play the show 'Anything goes'

Yupon makes a very nice one. Bob Reeves Brass sells them.

As far as I know, the only factory bass trombone solotone mute is the aforementioned Yupon. There was also an unofficial run of, as I recall, 50 H&Bs modified by a third party (can't remember who) to fit bass trombone. I don't know if there are any others.

Personally, I just use my normal H&B Cleartone on bass and it works just fine. I gather from all the past threads about solotones that everybody hates the Cleartone and I apparently got a really good one, but I've never had any issues using it in either tenor or bass.

Eric Swanson in Dallas and I designed an actual bass trombone one. Contact Eric to see if he’s still making them.
