How to look for gigs/ find some?

I’m fairly new to actually getting gigs, but something I struggle with is just getting them. How do you guys find places to play? My go-to is searching online but I would like to search for some in person as well.

You might want to tell us a little bit about yourself, your level of playing, and where you live. You need to put in a lot of ground work meeting people and getting to know the scene where you live before you can work. What exactly does an online search consist of for you?

When I moved to a new city I always checked with the local music stores.

Are you talking about finding places for a group you run to play? Or are you talking about finding people to hire you as a sideman?

Well if the OP checks this site as often as his social media accounts it will be difficult to "get" gigs.
