:???: Steve Davis is one of my favorite bone players, but I can’t figure out what kind of horn he plays? Anyone know?
Looks and sounds like a large bore.

Years ago (I think back in the TTF days) there was a classified listing for a straight King 4B with a dual bore slide (I think .525-.547) that I think the seller stated was made for Steve Davis. It's been a long time, but maybe my memory is still correct on that.

He’s played on a large bore Courtouis for a fairly long time now. Or at least as of around 10 years ago, I don’t know if he’s changed it up since then.
He found it at a second hand store, so it wasn’t new and he wasn’t sure of the model when I asked. At the time he said he had tried newer ones and they didn’t quite work as well for him!

I sent Steve an email and he has replied:
“My horn is an Antoine Courtois model 155 large bore (large shank) trombone 8 1/2” bell.”
