Hello everyone - I'm new to this forum, but have already spent a few years as a passive reader. I'm very interested in the King 1130 flugabone - I find it visually very interesting and cooler than our typical rotary valve bass trumpets that we play in Europe. It also seems very interesting in terms of price. How would you describe it in terms of playability and intonation? Where is the best place to get this instrument - I don't think it's being made any more, right? Thanks for your help!

The King 1130 has been out of production for a while, but there are similar instruments available.

Here's a discussion of one person's project of customizing a new production Flugabone:

You can find flugabones fairly often on eBay, and occasionally on the Trombone Chat classifieds. I've owned a bunch (King 1130, 3 Olds O-21s, and a Blessing M-300), and all the ones I've owned have been great-playing instruments. The King is my personal favorite, but the others are great choices as well. I don't have experience with the Chinese flugabones (Wessex, Lake City, etc.), but some people seem to like them.
