King Tempo 1305 and 2B Combinations

I’ll be picking up a King Tempo 1305 tomorrow, if I understand correctly the slide should be compatible with a 2B.
My 2B is a silvertone from the 40s, was there any change to the tenon over time?
I’m interested to see how the tempo compares to the 2B, and also whether I might like the brass tempo slide on the silver bell section, I suspect it might be a proper paint peeler, also the all-tempo should be fun and I might be slightly less precious about it, though from the pictures it looks pretty much in mint condition.

It depends on the vintage of the tempo. It might work.

Got the tempo, the slide tenon and screw threads are a match with the 2B Silvertone.
Will post some thoughts on the combinations when I get some time to try them out. First impressions of the Tempo (as a whole) are excellent, it slots a bit easier than the 2B Silvertone in the upper register and has a powerful sound, though is a bit more stuffy than the 2B in the low to mid stuff (in and around the bass clef staff). Then again I don’t really have it in mind for that and for loud unamplified gigs on a small stage or with a busy crowd I think it will be do very well.

Seems that you got exactly what you wanted. I had a King 606 (student model, 0.500" bore) which was (surprisingly) a wonderful backup to my King 2B. I wouldn't hesitate to bring it to a gig.

Seems that you got exactly what you wanted. I had a King 606 (student model, 0.500" bore) which was (surprisingly) a wonderful backup to my King 2B. I wouldn't hesitate to bring it to a gig.

I just recently bought a 1962 Tempo in almost Mint condition.
The bell is very thick. And very different from the Bach`s I`ve been playing.
It lights up like crazy when I put the pixie mute in and play with the plunger.
It`s a great horn but the jury is still out if I`m keeping it.

Indeed, though it’s very early days I would say it has enough of the characteristics I like about the 2B Silvertone to be a more than adequate deputy.
It’s nice to have a couple of horns with interchangeable parts, it’s somehow satisfying that for the relatively modest price of the tempo I’ve added three viable combos in the sub-0.500” range.
