Boy, the wages in so many of these offerings are disappointing. Like for this one. It's a "per service" scheme, and the pay is only $150 per service for section and $177 for principal, with no minimum guaranteed. That's ridiculously low in this day and age. Insulting to professionals. And yet, here we are, and people will line up to audition for this gig.
Imagine working hard and going through the audition process only to get the gig and earn next to nothing. The outlook for those wanting a performance career is increasingly depressing.

It’s not a full time gig. Looks like about 50 services per season. Our local ballet company doesn’t even use live music except for Nutcracker. I’m sure a good freelance player in Denver would be happy to have this gig, probably in addition to teaching and a few other jobs. Many musicians combine multiple gigs to earn a living these days.
