My mother in law is 92 and in a nursing home. I visit several times a week. Their activities coordinator knows I play trombone and asked if I could do some easy jazz melodies/solos with their pianist. Does anybody know of a book of not-too-difficult jazz standards with piano accompaniment, or even individual charts? No, I can't ad lib my way out of a paper bag. TIA!

Can their pianist read a lead sheet and play chords? If so a Real Book can go a long way.
When I was a kid (Late Pre-Cambrian Era) there were some books called "20 Years 20 Hits" for solo instrument with piano. Easy accompaniments and just melody lines. Music was from the first half of the 20th Century. Perfect for Nursing Home.
