Nice collection! I've never owned a Silver Sonic, but always wanted to. Here is my arsenal at it's peak:

My King Herd is bigger than it has ever been. Of course I never thought it would exist at all. I have just 2, a 1480 and now a 3b+F. Both kind of niche horns. 1480 is not really a bass bone, but that's what I'm trying to do with it. And 3b+F is not really a small bore, although that's what I'm trying to make out of it.

Hi Folks .

I bought my first King trbn when I was 16 , an used 3B Silver Sonic , with F valve .

Basically , I am playing exclusively on these horns from that period : I had a 4B Silver Sonorous straight tenor , others two 3B straight (one yellow brass and one all silver plated ) , a 8B 2108 bass trbn , and a Duo Gravis bass trbn ( built around 1975) .

My largest " herd" was having a 3B , a 4B , a 8B , and the Duo Gravis all together .

Currently , I own the 8B and the Duo Gravis , that is my main horn .

I had others brand trbns , just for a while : Bach 42 with F valve ( for one year) , Olds George Roberts bass trbn single valve ( for 6 months) , and a Yamaha large bore custom straight tenor ( for 8 months) .

Anyway , to me no one horn play like the King ...

Regards

Giancarlo

Sorry. I had a 2B, 3B, 3B-F, 4B-F, and a 7B bass. All sold off in the last few years except the 4B-F which I have had since 1972 or so and will go with me to the grave.

Thanks Kingfan. 50 years with my 4B f. Trying to figure why my range is still substantially superior and easier on this horn than my smaller Y691 and Getzen 3508. Though I love these two horns I just keep coming back to my 4B. It's a heavy sob and I'm old, but the beautiful broad overtones make me sound like I'm playing in unison with another me.

I didn't intend to have a King collection, but I currently have a 3B, 3BF, 2 607s, 605F, and 1480. If you include instruments other than slide trombones, I also have an 1130 flugabone, 1120 and 1121 mellophones, and 2270 Eroica double horn. I also had a 3B+F until recently (sold to a TCer!). In the past I've also had an 1140 trombonium, another 1480, and a K-50 mellophone bugle.

I'd still like to own both varieties of 2B+ (2115 and 2102PL), a 1306 Tempo, a straight 4B for the right price, and my King white whale: an early (1930s) 1480 back when the bore was still .508" (but still with the big throat 9" bell).

I've got a 1306 looking for a new home if you're interested. Feel free to PM me.
