Hello All! Looking to replace a Bach Corp era playing slide yellow brass crook with a N/S crook. The slide tubes have a measurement O.D. of .645. O.D. of replacement N/S crooks appear to be anywhere from .625-635. Is this normal? Are newer Bach slides smaller in O.D.???

Thanks.

A .645" OD on 42 outer slide tubes doesn't seem right. The ID of a 42 outer tube should be approximately .590", which would make the wall thickness of your slide tube .0275" per side. That would be an exceptionally heavy slide tube. Is your handslide from a 50? I would expect a 42 outer to be closer to .620" OD.

A standard Bach handslide crook should be somewhere in the realm of .600" ID / .630" OD.

Yes thanks! This is definitely a stock Bach 42 slide. I'll do some more checking-calipers could be funky.
