Allora parts

I have in my shop an Allora trombone ATB 450 (.547 bore) The slide is trashed, the inner slide braces are ripped apart

I am getting no joy from the local MAC outlet, they may not want to help the local competition

Any suggestions as to a slide I can use to replace this? It's a tenor with F-attachment and the slide is 4.75 inches across.

Even if it is just a similar model for which I can obtain parts, I need to know what this is comparable to. Is this a copy of something else?

Thanks for your help

I think the Allora's were just re-badged Blessing B-88's.

What do you mean the "inner slide braces are ripped apart"? An inner slide only has one brace, and it shouldn't be hard to find a compatible part from another maker.

Parts for Allora have been sourced from an assortment of makers. I bought an Allora from The Woodwind and The Brasswind back in the early 2000’s. It actually has Courtois and B&S parts and is built very well. I cannot give the same glowing review of some of the more recent Allora horns and they seem to be changing part suppliers every year or two (probably adjusting to the cheapest Chinese bidder).

Since the part suppliers are changed so frequently, you will probably not be able to find the correct part by asking on a forum like this. Your tech will need to replace the inner slide brace with parts that fit appropriately and could come from one of several brands. Replacing the brace tube should be no problem, there are numerous brace tubes available or your tech could just cut one to the specific size on a lathe. The flanges can be a little more complicated, but very doable by a decent tech.

In other words, don’t go looking for specific parts on a forum…….the parts could be incorrect on the first several attempts. Go to a tech with some know-how and they will be able to find the appropriate parts in their bins of parts or they will fabricate the part to make it the perfect size.

By the way, what is a MAC outlet?

Pictures would certainly help, if you have any.

I’m not an expert, but maybe you could try checking out online trombone forums or local repair shops to see if anyone’s dealt with a similar model. Sometimes a slide from a close model works just fine.

MAC - Music and Arts

Also, Woodwind/Brasswind online store mentioned above and Music & Arts are in the same corporation.

Not in my experience. But it's a moot point since they don't exist anymore and apparently have "joined" Music and Arts.

In what way have these companies (under the same ownership) become "scammers?"

I didn't say those companies have become scammers. I said Music and Arts are scammers. I ordered Hetman tuning slide grease, which was clearly marked on their website as being in stock. They instead sent me Alessi slide oil, which isn't even the same usage. When I complained, they said they had made a "substitution" because they were out of stock on the tuning slide grease. You can't "substitute" a completely different product. They required me to send it back to get a refund, and then only gave me a partial refund, apparently deducting the shipping cost.

If you take someone's money and deliberately deliver the wrong item, that is scamming.
