T396-AR mysterious buzzing

Anyone out there with an Edwards T396-AR or A had any issues with the instrument buzzing? I got my AR a few weeks ago, love it. It's a really great horn. But I've noticed something on the instrument buzzing. At first this only happened during soft playing in 5th, 6th, and 7th positions on the 3rd partial and sometimes in 1st on the 6th partial. Took it to a local tech yesterday and we got it a little bit better. Now it only happens consistently on Db in 5th if I'm playing soft. It sounds like it's right by my left ear but it also goes away if I gently push down on the top slide tube. We put some rubber between the horn and the trigger spring and that seemed to help a little bit. This isn't a huge deal as I don't have many situations where I'm playing something that would start that buzzing but it is distracting when it happens.

put some nice thick tuning slide grease on both tuning slides. That got rid of a vibration I was having on a Bach 36B.

Also put it on the slide lock ring threads.

We tried all of that, as well as on the leadpipe

Have you considered returning it to Edwards? You say you got it only a few weeks ago. Is it new? If so, I'd absolutely reach out to them and see what they can do.

It's a possibility. The tech mentioned that he was going to get in touch with Edwards to see if they had any ideas or maybe getting a new bell section

You might try using a [url=https://www.harborfreight.com/mechanics-stethoscope-63691.html]mechanic's stethoscope to try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

From experience - make sure there aren't any bad solder joints where the harmonic bridge meets the braces.

This sounds like a small solder leak. A buzzing sound leak is better than a leak that just makes certain pitches dull with no buzz. The buzz-less leaks can sometimes never be found and a horn that could potentially be awesome is deemed “a dog.”
