Replacing handle on Eastman case

The handle on my Eastman fiberglass case is in poor shape. I am using cloth tape to hold it together. There is no apparent way to replace it.

Has anyone dealt with this? Looking for a solution.

Do an eBay search for "musical instrument case handle".

What do you mean ‘no way to replace it’? It’s just a molded handle with pins into clevis on each side, right? Worst case is you cut the handle off, leaving the clevis and pin and use one of those replacement handles with the buckles… but there are probably better options.

Cheers,

Many cities have luggage repair shops and some shoe shops do luggage repair as well.

Google is your friend.

I see no pins,or any other way to remove and replace. Thanks though.

I did a lot of online research prior to posting here. Normal luggage case handles aren’t interchangeable on Eastman fiberglass cases.

That’s it but the covering is gone. Down to the metal frame.

Seems as if there are 2 possibilities. One, pull the lining away from the inside of the case around the handle, and drill out the rivets. Replace with a new handle, drilling new holes if necessary, and attach using t-nuts. (If you're frugal, like me, look around your neighborhood for a suitcase put out to the curb; or check goodwill.)

2. If just the handle itself is broken, fix with epoxy or contact cement, and wrap up with a strip of leather.

This isn't a great solution, but if the covering is gone and it's bare metal you could get something like Bicycle handlebar tape or tennis racket tape. Then wrap the handle for a little extra cushion and grip.
