Hello, I’m looking into shipping a horn in a large tenor Protec Case and I’m curious if anyone knows where to find boxes that will comfortably fit the case. I’ve successfully shipped my own horn in the same Protec case using a U-Haul 12x12x40 lamp box, but the case’s bell flare is maybe ~13” wide, so there was a bulge in the box as well as some unpadded contact points between the box and the case. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I usually use a 15x15x40 for that reason.

Yeah that would be perfect, where have you found those? I’ve only seen them at Uline and I’d have to buy at least ten boxes.

I use a U-Haul golf club / sport utility box. 15x15x48. The height can be cut down as needed. It shows only $7.95 on their website.

Who makes this sized box? Sometimes I need a little wider than the U-Haul 12x12x40, but have never run across that size.

The Box Store! I'm lucky enough to have one a few blocks away.

If this doesn't sound too dumb, what about contacting a local music store that sells ProTec cases and ask them for one of the boxes they received those cases in? I'm sure they'd be happy to give you one.
