Another great ballad...

This is a video that hasn't been shared enough in here for my taste. I'm not sure if at all... I wish more players nowadays would try to check out this way of playing. And I wish I could do that... :?

The playing's memorable (post-Urbie balladry seems like JW's best work) but it's the lighting cue at the key change that really does it for me

I love Jiggs' airy-sounding lip vibrato and his "lazy" approach. Beautiful.

I thought Jiggs played his own model King 2b, but that horn looks like it has a nickel lightweight slide and no counterweight.

Wow, very nice! I have actually never met him although there could have been quite a few occasions. I have not listened to his playing very much, but always am impressed.

Jiggs once told me that this is the style of music and playing where he earned a lot of money with

Unfortunately there are not that many recordings with that (or at least they're not that easy to find).

I'm sure you know this one, but for anyone else... There must be more of these dotted throughout the Kaempfert discography, but I've never quite found the courage to wade through it all to find them. Don't get me wrong, I love big reverb and it's unbelievably slick playing across the board, but diabetes is a real risk.

That's absolutely gorgeous! I had not heard that one. Thanks for posting it. I'm a huge Jiggs fan.

I've heard it once and completely forgot about it!!! Thanks for sharing! I'll definitely check some other Bert Kaempfert stuff at some point to see if there are more tunes like that. There's that Third Stone album with WDR Bigband and Orchestra where he plays some lovely ballads as well.
