Hi All,

Got a special horn here! I don't really need it isn't the horn that I use very much. But it is a great sounding horn and plays great! This came to me in rough shape and I had to straighten out a lot of things.

The bracing has been changed a bit. Removed some bracing to the bell and the neckpipe and added a brace to the bell. All of the original braces are in good condition and included. Horn plays great like this. But it would be very easy to revert it to its stock bracing.

The bell has clearly seen some mishaps in the past. Good news is that there are no tears, no holes, and no cracks. There is a spot on the rim that looked like it almost could've been disastrous but thankfully it never split. The engraving is very clear and sharp.

Valve is is pretty good shape. Seals well and has good compression. It has the original linkage and works well. It is pretty quiet and quick. Plays quite nice in the low register! I would probably have a modern linkage put on it if I were to fully overhaul it. But the current setup works great! A bit clumsy looking (glad Bach didn't stick with this look!).

Looks like the horn has not been heavily repaired (not much evidence of buffing). Lacquer is pretty rough looking. Polished up some spots that are raw brass.

Tuning slide is good. Moves fine and works as it should. As one would expect, dents have been removed.

The slide is surprisingly good. An Amado key has been added (original waterkey and nipple still intact!). The saddle for the waterkey does have the pin broken off in it so it would need to be extracted. The slide action is probably a 7.5-8/10 to me. It moves pretty quick, is a bit scratchy but doesn't have any catches. There is wear on the stocking. I do have a custom nickel slide that works great with this horn (it's what I use with it) that I could part with for an extra cost. It is nickel with short nickel oversleeves, yellow crook, removable pressfit leadpipes.

Case has been used. Some stickers, duct tape, red taped handle, etc. Works fine. It's giant. Original emblems on the case! Heavy heavy case. But cool nonetheless! Springs in the latches are not very springy, but they still latch well. All components of the case are present! All have wear and tear but they work!

This would be a great candidate to be completely overhauled by somebody that is willing to put on the time and money to have it really look stellar. Or, to be played as is! It really does have they classic Bach sound and plays huge. I want to keep it, but I don't need it. I know it won't fetch the price of a pretty looking Mt Vernon 42, but these are still pretty rare and this is a fine playing specimen. It has been well loved and has been brought back to life and skills stand the test of time!

Make me an offer! Cash, trades, and cash plus trades are all welcome.

Since you are also refusing to set a price via PM/emails as well, I am assuming you are wanting us to place bids against each other...

eBay might be a better venue for you to sell this...

Just to clarify, I am not looking for a bidding war. I'm in no rush or dire need to sell, but I also don't need this horn. If the right offer arises I will sell/trade this horn. Please no low balls. It disrespects a great instrument that would probably tell some great stories if it could!

Thanks for looking!
