Are there apps available that can transcribe an entire arrangement and create a score from an audio file? If so, what’s the best, most versatile choice?

This is probably a sensitive topic here. My impression after having looked a little bit is that you're not going to find something for free that allows you to pick music out of the air with any accuracy.

I’m happy to pay for it. I’m trying to recreate some stuff by people dead which is unavailable anywhere, for a project. Trying to do it from scratch by hand is time prohibitive.

Unless something has radically changed recently, I'm not aware of any software that can do this at all, let alone reliably whether paid or not. I'm sure AI may eventually get there, though it would be much different than the current crop of "AI" which are large language models.

I looked into something like this a few months ago, and the state of the art among existing applications isn't up to it. I'm not sure that an LLM can't achieve it -- or a hybrid LLM with something like a KBS -- but there doesn't appear to be anything like it at the moment.

There are lots of people/services that will create transcriptions for a fee. One band I play in uses a local guy that does a pretty decent job.

I haven't tested this, but the paid version claims to work with mp3s and youtube. The free version didn't give me very good results on my singing happy birthday, but did recognize the chord changes from my very bad singing. It claims to do stuff with multiple voices as well. If someone tries it, please report.

I have tried a few different ones out. None of them seem to be very good at it. I did at least get something sort of a starting point useable out of Klangio, but was more hassle then it was worth.

+1 on transcription services. There are loads of folks out there on freelancing sites who offer up their services. I was going to use one recently on Fivver for a project of mine, but I needed up getting stuck in myself and really enjoyed it. It did take some time though to get through it.
