I just thought this was an interesting photo and caption of an alphorn choir for lack of a better term. Ever wonder what a tuba looked like all stretched out with no valves?

There’s a local musician couple who brings two of these to a music camp I teach at every summer, and it’s a great time to watch kids try them out for the first time.

I made one (out of PVC pipes) and bought a real one a couple years ago, and am having a wonderful time playing them. Went to a workshop recently where, as the only trombone player in a sea of french horn players playing their alphorns, was the only one to easily and consistently hit the pedal note, although the upper range on the alphorn is a bit more of a challenge.
