I recently purchased a Mt Vernon Bach Mercedes trombone from the later 50’s. Very nice horn! Just wondering if anyone knows about how many trombones Bach made. In the 50s? I know a lot more trumpets were made. Just wondering how rare this is.

I own a Mt. Vernon Bach Mercedes. It's essentially an all-brass Bach 12. Very light, thin, and warmish-snappy depending on how you play.

Aidan, If I’m not mistaken aren’t the serial numbers a running tab of all the brass instruments produced, including trumpet and cornets, etc.? I don’t think the serial numbers are specific to the type of instrument.

Mine is in the 5000’s and more on the heavy side.

Trumpets and trombones have separate serial series.

I stand corrected! Thanks.
