My Vincent Bach 7C mouthpiece allows me to play more comfortably in the higher register, and I can hit a high C regularly without much trouble while improvising.

But my Vincent Bach 6 1/2 AL is much more comfortable on my lips.

I see the differences when I look into the mouthpiece apertures.

I'd like to go with a new Vincent Bach mouthpiece. What would your recommendation be for me to have a rim about the same size & shape as the 6 1/2 AL but with the playability ease that I get with the 7C?

This situation is the reason that Doug Elliott’s mouthpieces are so successful.

There is no musical reason (other than historical custom) that cups and rims should grow in proportion to each other, à la Bach, Schilke, et al. Doug's system allows you to have (within reason) a smaller volume/shallower cup with a larger diameter rim. He could prescribe exactly the piece you desire.

[Perhaps - for your King 3B - a C3 or D3 Shank, an ST C or LT C Cup, and an ST 100 or LT 100 Rim.]

Perhaps it’s time for you to think outside the Bachs!

I understand what you're saying, and 5 years ago I did have two online meetings with Doug. He's great, and I appreciate your comment.

But at this time I would prefer a mouthpiece that I can purchase from a standard producer of products. I'm close, and would like to know what exists out there on the market.
