Preview and Submit fail

I often find that if I press "Preview" or "Submit" on a post, everything is lost and only a blank entry form is returned.

It seems to happen more if one of those "verification" screens comes up in between.

I've learned to always do a CTRL-A and CTRL-C on my text before I do a "Preview" but I notice today that any attachments that had been uploaded disappear also.

I've been getting this too. Thankfully on desktop if I use the back button my post data is still there and I can submit for the second time.

And if you accidentally post twice I will delete the extra one. :good:

I've had this problem too - it's especially frustrating when you take the time to write a thoughtful response and all of your work is lost. Any fix that's possible?

It just happened to me again! A post that I put a lot of thought and time into disappeared as soon as I hit send!

Is there a way to save it so you can resubmit it? This has happened way too many times to me in recent months!

I find that on some forums (not sure about this one), too long of a delay between opening the composition window and hitting submit is a recipe for lost posts. That's consistent with your "a lot of thought and time". I've gotten into the habit of copying into a Notepad document before hitting submit.

Sometimes hitting the browser's BACK function is enough to recover the post. Again, I don't recall if that works here on TC.

It just happened to me. I was able to hit my browser's (firefox) back button, and there was my text. I just had to hit submit again.

I tried that with Safari and it didn't work. It's happening more to me these days, because I have a broken arm, and the cast makes it awkward to type with my right hand. I'm already a slow "hunt and peck" typist.

It's teaching me "patience" (or some version of that, anyway).

This just happened to me too. I had composed a reply to a post (fortunately only a single paragraph) and thought I should "Preview" it before submitting. When I hit "Preview" I got sent to Cloudflare - and when I returned to my post it was gone. I had to re-compose the entire reply. This is extremely annoying! Now I have learned to copy my complete draft post to my clipboard before previewing - or composing in Word and then pasting into TromboneChat.
