Here's a new video of my group Le Consort laurentien, of a fantastic sonata by Giovanni Battista Buonamente for two two violins, one bass instrument and continuo, played on here on violin, cornetto, bass trombone and organ.
I've mentioned previously in some comments here on posts about bass trombone with slide handles, that I believe the best grip is one where the hand is as far from the slide as it needs to be to reach the lowest positions and stays there, as opposed to a grip that is as close as possible to the slide and creeps or drops down the handle only to reach for the low notes, because the latter needlessly increases the arm motion, which can be detrimental both to intonation accuracy and to stability of embouchure, whereas the former turns the clumsy handle into an advantage and reduces the distance your arm has to travel between position, allowing for a playing that is both more nimble and more relaxed. This video has a few sequences where that can be observed well.
