Ease of grip vs Sound

I love my king 3B sound. Snappy with great projection. But it requires a lot of work to play it, and it hurts my middle finger. Tried Neotech Grip, Wise Grip , nothing works for me.

Played an XO1634. Very comfortable. Finger doesn't hurt if I'm using the Wise Grip. The horn practically plays itself. But the sound is a bit dull.

Any recommendation?

A lighter but snappy horn?

A different grip?

Thanks!

I get a callous on my middle finger from the main brace. It's all about the sound. If you can find another horn that gives you the same sound without the pain that's geeat. Look at a Getzen 3508. I like it better than the 3b.

I wrap a rubber tube around the brace and it helps me a lot.

I use a neotech on my 3B, just don't grip the brace at all. You can play while not using any fingers.

Tried that. Good for the finger, bad for the elbow :|

I’m pretty fond of the Calder Pips straight trombone grip
