I need a cheap Edwards or Bach slide for a parts donor horn.

I am going to buy new tubes to build a nickel 525/547 slide for my Edwards horn.

Looking for the rest of the parts.

The tubes can be trashed.

I added Edwards to the wish list. It is possible someone has a Edwards that was stepped on.

The Edwards store currently has the slide you propose to build ready made @ $800 ... the results may be quite a bit more predictable and consistent than a franken-slide.

I have had a few opportunities presented to me. All seem to be pretty good slides.

I am looking for the slide that run over by the drummer.

It sounds to me like you basically want two cork-barrels and a tenon? You might have more luck just acquiring those parts. Whomever your tech is should be able to order them with the rest of the parts you already intend on ordering. Edwards and Bach make them available rather easily and they are quit cheap compared to the inner and outer tubes you intend to buy. You're not going to save much money by acquiring them.

Just an fyi, edwards is clearing out .525-547 slides $400 new right now. Unless you are making it yourself and paying tech prices, you cannot be that anywhere!

Do you know if this would fit a Yamaha (large bore) bell?

YES!

Bought and on it's way home. $120 will get me two nickel outer tubes. My tech Kevin can do the assembly.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the outer tubes from?

Hey Jeff,

You could pick up a cheap Chinese Bach copy on Ebay. You can get a .547 Bach copy that should be the same size parts for about 3 or 4 hundred. Comes with a decent case and you will can also use the rest of the parts for other projects. This is probably the cheapest way to get the job done. The slides are not great but since you just need the connectors it should do the trick.
