Looking for opinions from those who have played or compared both the Greg Black standard 5G with the NY 5.
I know the NY 5 is more of a 4 sized rim with a GS cup depth and #1 backbore, and the 5G may be a little deeper but with a smaller rim diameter. I believe the rim contours are slightly different too.
I potentially should’ve started with these two, but I’ve played a bunch of similar sizes (4.5-5G, 4G-5G, NY 5.5, NY 7 and some with .277 throats) but haven’t found something quite right.
Wondering which would be the overall more versatile mouthpiece for more general playing, pop orchestra and more legit pit work? Horn is Yamaha 882 with OR slide.
