Ybl -622 dependent bass (model prior to 822) Original Doug Yeo model
I liked to option of removing, 2nd valve, when not needed. Pretty neat idea. Works
Lacquer is very good. I might say, it 8-9, out of 10. Has had some dent repair, and bell crease repair. (pretty good job) Has a small dent in main tuning bow. Also, small dent in one of attachment tubes. Both easy fix, if needed.
Slide is extremely good condition, AND super fast. Has no lacquer wear! Original Yamaha case.
You would be hard press, finding a better one. But it is used.
$2500.00 cont. US only.

Can you talk a little about how the horn plays, maybe in comparison to your 183 or 50b? How heavy is it in comparison? Can you compare how playing it as a double compares to playing it as a single?

Plays kinda like a lighter version of a 50b. Not quite as broad, but more broad than the 183 or 181. Sound is consistent, doesn't change with volume. The 183 and 181, are more focus sound, and can be colored. Of course,
the yami, has larger modern rotors, so it is more free blowing. More user friendly. Doug Yeo likes dependent horns, for how they play in open horn. That's true. Yami is physically lighter, than my 181. The slide is extremely smooth.
I found a Very original mint 181 (circa 1977) that I just like, cause I'm into older horns. I really like the 183, an under appreciated horn. If it had a physically larger rotor, it would be more popular. As it is, If valve is correctly clocked, it plays as nice as any horn.

Just a plug: I’ve got the updated version (822G) that has a second tuning slide and some trim changes. These horns are great. They play big, feel light, and just plain rock. Removable valve is a very cool addition that gives the horn more flexibility. It’s a Yamaha, you can buy sight unseen, and know it’s not going to be a dud. If I didn’t already have one, I’d scoop this up.
