Gold plate a silver mouthpiece

Hello,

I currently play on a Greg Black 4.5GSD mouthpiece and really like how it feels and plays. I’m interested in switching to a gold finish but want to keep the exact same mouthpiece since it works well for me.

Would I need to buy a new Greg Black 4.5GSD with a gold plate, or can I have my current one gold plated by a jeweler or another professional?

Send it back to Greg for him to plate.

Stork would be another option

You can of course have it plated, but you will be without it for a while.

I've gold plated a mouthpiece before. I shipped it to Dillon Music (New Jersey) and had Vlad work on it. You can give them a call to talk to them about it. I was really nervous and it turned out great.

It was an AR Resonance top I had gold plated, and I think with shipping back and forth, plus the work it ran me about $90 total. I got the work done back in 2019. The plating is still perfect, minus some scratches from me dropping it. That mouthpiece was my daily driver for many years, but last year I switched back to a silver top.

Stork mouthpieces are also good and relatively inexpensive for their gold plating, and their turnaround times are pretty quick in my experience.
