Torn Between Two Tenors, Feeling Like a Fool

After getting back my de-stressed Edwards T-350 from Eric Edwards (no relation), I just got back my Corporation era Bach 42B from Scott Sweeney, both are really good horns!
I failed in one respect with the Bach, not mentioning I had a copper tuning slide I wanted to interchange with the existing one, and Scott reversed one of the legs of the tuning slide, so now it has one male and one female leg... didn't see that one coming!
Thinking for the sake of compatibilty with my stock 36 (one of the reasons for buying the Hoelle tuning slide), maybe I should have him revert back to the stock arrangement on the tuning slide, i.e., two female legs?
One of the reasons for the Hoelle tuning slide was the fast response, but the 42B I got back is pretty darn responsive, maybe play around with a copper leadpipe instead?

Reversed tuning slide is dope and Scott knows what he is doing. I’d sell the extra tuning slide and play it as is. I’m sure the Edwards is great but I’d love a corp 42 put back together by Scott (if that helps you decide)

If you got a good Bach, I'd play it and enjoy as is! The reverse tuning slides are supposed to be a good approach! I have one on my 2b and on my Bach A47I. I'd like to get one on my Bach 12 sometime
I don't think I understand what you mean about the second tuning slide and the 36. If it were me, I'd look into converting them. Just because I like to find problems to solve, lol! Really since you have a good Bach now that was improved by Scott, the logical move would be to just play it as is and leave well enough alone.

The Bach 36 and 42 share the same main tuning slide, and I bought a Hoelle copper main tuning slide to use with <I>both </I>horns, but to do so requires identical (stock) configurations.

I'd personally reverse the 36 TS if you really wanted to use the TS with both of them. I've had that done to a 36 and a 42 at various points in my career and while it didn't make a big difference, I did notice an improvement.

That still won’t give me the use of the Hoelle tuning slide, but might improve the function of the 36.

Oh, sorry I meant to suggest you reverse that tuning slide as well. Ideally, your tech would make whatever tuning slides you wanted compatible at the same time or you didn't switch between them though. If you want a horn that really sings, having all of the parts assembled stress free makes a huge difference and switching between two horns can be tricky to keep everything totally aligned.

I'm going to reverse the tuning slide on the 36 bell and on the Hoelle tuning slide, and sell the Edwards, this gives me interchangability between the 36 and 42 tuning slides, and I can use the 50 slide on the 42.
