After nine months of waiting, my new trombones have come in from Voigt Brass!

The bass is a JV163FG with some minor customizations. The slide bow is a bit heavier than the norm to provide more stabilization in all dynamic ranges.

The tenor is a JV27. A fantastic .500 bore instrument with loads of zing when you need it, but a very nice, blending sound as well.

The satin finish is just beautiful!!! The techs at Voigt Brass have outdone themselves. These become my 4th and 5th Voigt trombones, and they round out my toolbox.

A HUGE thank you to Martin Voigt and Kerstin Voigt for their continued kindness and patience with me. They are truly fantastic people to work with. I am proud to be an endorsing artist for their product.

If you are in the market for a trombone, I urge you to give Voigt Brass a close look.

Congrats on some really nice new horns!

They look great and if they play as they look, you'll have a lifetime of music to enjoy.

Play long and prosper.

Sweet horns!

I know how you feel about medium bores but did you get a change to try the JV-136OG? comments?

Man those look nice! What about the bass do you love? How does it differ from all of the other boutique options available today? I'll expect a 50 page thesis response asap. LOL

Nice looking horns! Big honking valves on that bass. Where can we play Voigts in the US (other than your house)?

I love medium bore instruments… when the day comes that I only own one horn it will most likely be either a Voigt 136 or a Rath R3… I used to own an R3F and it was probably my favorite horn to play, but it just never fit into any of the ensembles I played in. I have tried out the 136 and it is a great player. Martin Voigt could work with you to get the perfect setup.

And, if you’re close to me I don’t mind people trying out my equipment.

I was looking to tweak my sound a bit from my Rath R9… and, I was having issues with low C and B backing up on me… I was able to solve both issues, and build a horn that I was able to push more. The satin finish… I asked for thst just because I liked it.

Those are some nice looking horns. John Ohnstad in Portland OR really loves his Voigt bass and contrabass. He sounds great on them, too!

Thanks Dean. Remind me if you had a Rath with Hagmanns or Rotax? Glad you like the new horn-it looks great!

My R9 has Rotax… I will be selling it soon, along with the leather Bonna case.

Aww...thank you Dean! And congrats on filling out your barn! Those instruments look amazing.

Like Dean, I can't say enough things about my Voigt Instruments. This bass trombone I have is the most efficient instrument I have ever played. Having some air at the end of a phrase, what a concept?

The folks at Voigt really do care about what they are building, they listen to feedback and find ways to incorporate it to make their instruments even better. I would recommend Houghton Horns and I know Steve at the Horn Guys carriers a limited selection of their instruments.
