Hey all,
I am doing a research project on Straight mutes and comparing their sounds as section mutes. I am compiling a list of Straight Mute brands. If anyone has any they could add to this I would appreciate it.

I have in my closet a beautiful Yamaha copper-bottom aluminum straight mute - and a Bach plastic (!) cup mute.

good luck getting a section of Balu mutes together. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person on the planet that plays one.

Just curious- are you then going to but the requisite amount needed for your section of each brand and test them out? That sounds like an expensive proposition.

Mike MClean mutes - superb glass fibre mutes.
Voight - Germany, used to make all the Wallace mutes until he let them down, they still make their own.
Theres a guy in Latvia or Lithuania makes superb wooden mutes - he's a pro trombone player too. Cant vremember his name, maybe Nartis? or something like that.
Theres the wicker made mutes AMR - got one myself.

Theres the mutes ben Van Dijk endorses - Richard Speetjens (?)
