I have the option to purchase the components for an Edwards Bass trombone: bell, main tuning slide, & hand-slide. Obviously, I will need a valve section as well. I want an independent configuration with the typical tuning—Bb/F/Gb/D. Ideally, something approximating a stock valve section would be good—using stock parts. So Thayers are a logical choice, although I do really like rotors. So, maybe adapting a Getzen set would be possible. At any rate, being able to bolt it up to a stock bell and plug in the main tuning slide would be preferable. I would like to avoid investing too much time and money, so close to stock is probably best.
