I have the option to purchase the components for an Edwards Bass trombone: bell, main tuning slide, & hand-slide. Obviously, I will need a valve section as well. I want an independent configuration with the typical tuning—Bb/F/Gb/D. Ideally, something approximating a stock valve section would be good—using stock parts. So Thayers are a logical choice, although I do really like rotors. So, maybe adapting a Getzen set would be possible. At any rate, being able to bolt it up to a stock bell and plug in the main tuning slide would be preferable. I would like to avoid investing too much time and money, so close to stock is probably best. But I am open to any recommendations. I have always liked Instrument Innovations products. I have one of their axials on my tenor. I'm just looking at keeping the budget reasonable—around $1200-1600 with parts, labor, and possibly finish (lacquer). And also a turn around of a couple of months or less. Being able to bolt it up to an Edwards a stock bell and plug in the main tuning slide and hand-slide would be preferable. In other words, if possible, I would like to avoid shipping the rest of the parts. I know with custom fabrications, this might not be plausible.

Please let me know if you have anything or know of someone selling a set. Email will elicit a faster reply, but PM if you prefer. Technicians, feel free to solicit me directly with your advice and services. Thanks!

p.s.

I see the following on the O.E. Thayer Company Website. I wonder if everything is included as pictured—looks like most everything one would need for the project except maybe for the Edwards specific components. I assume assembly and finishing required.I will contact them myself, but I would appreciate hearing from someone with first-hand knowledge. :

Identical post in Classifieds. This one was from Repairs. Feel free to restore this one and move the other if you think it better. I'd personally prefer not to have two identical posts up.
