wide to standard slide

Curious of people's experience with having a wide slide modified to standard width with a new crook. Did it affect 7th position (placing it too close to the end of the slide) or trigger low C (making it substantially sharper)? Thanks

I'm not sure shires offers a non wide crook for 525s. In any case, I've gone the other way on a 36 and the difference wasn't big.

The Shires standard crook for a .525 is narrow sort of like an 8H/88H slide.
To answer the original question, if the tubes are the same length then the overall pitch will be higher with a narrower slide.

GabrielRice, do you know approximately how much sharper it gets? 50 cents? 25? Even less? Thanks.

I was under the impression that the T25 and T47 slides are a little longer than their wide counterparts to compensate for the narrower crook. Another way of putting it could be, assuming that's true, if you wanted your wide slide to be the same length as the standard width, it would get the "L" designation, i.e. TW47L.
For the OP, if you ordered a T25LW slide from Shires, the impact on tuning should be negligible (≤10 c), unless I'm wrong about the above.

I don't. I will say I think you are much better off ordering a new slide than modifying the slide you have.

Surely you would simply compensate by extending the main tuning slide a hair further than before.
