Shires Vintage New York Model (8” bell)

Like new condition, straight horn, no valve. Designed in the spirit of vintage Mt. Vernon & NY Bach trombones.

Bell section: TII5YVNY8

New. 8” flare diameter, yellow brass, one-piece construction, centered and resonant. Only letting this bell go because I was waiting on a custom Shires prototype, which arrived and checked all the boxes for me. Gooseneck is also new. TX tuning slide (yellow brass, Bach style) is *not new, but in immaculate condition.

Slide: T25NLWYC

.525 bore, lightweight (no oversleeves), nickel outer slide tubes with a yellow brass crook. Like new condition, action is 8.5/10, honestly needs to break in, hardly used. Comes with 2 leadpipes: a small shank yellow brass Shires 2.5 (the Shires pipe closest to the feel of a Bach 36 pipe, imho). Also including a large shank yellow brass Ralph Sauer pipe, also great. So, straight out of the case this horn can be played with both a small or large shank mouthpiece. You can also customize with your own leadpipe, that is the beauty of modular instruments.

This instrument speaks like a Mt. Vernon 36 with a lightweight slide, but the modern ergonomics make it a little more nimble. Same rich overtones, but easier to play.

$3100 shipped within the continental US (sorry, no international buyers). Not interested in trades, also not parting out at the moment. (If serious offers made for flare or complete slide, will consider selling the smaller parts separately i.e. tuning slide, gooseneck etc. Comes with a generic case for protection during shipping.

Questions/offers, send a PM or email.

HNY!

PS-I will also be listing a Shires CHI model bell section (w/ axial valve and TGX (gold brass Bach style) tuning slide.
