I was recently flicking through my Album collection several weeks ago and came across a bunch of studio recordings I played on over the past 30 years or so, and decided to have a listen to one Titled " Park bench Story "which has 8 tracks all written by Canadian born composer John Warren and recall how much of a wonderful time we all had playing on this session.
One track which really took me by surprise was John's arrangement of JJ Johnson's ballad " Lament " which was based on Gill Evans 1950 Miles ahead ( which I have ) but written to include an improvised solo for our Tenor Sax player Lewis Watson who I think sounds truly amazing with so much feeling and straight from his sole.
I do hope you find the time to have a listen to this recording with some really nice ensemble playing from everyone, esp the Trombones.
