The spec on the Soulo site gives the cup width as 7 1/2", but does anyone use one on a horn with 7 1/4" bell like a 2B?
Just hoping that their measurement isn't accurate, but I bet it is.

I'm wondering if it's practical to cut the edge of the cup back if it's only made from fibre board. I've sent Soulo a mail, no reply but that's to be expected I guess..
There's still many horns with 7.25" bells being used in the commercial sector, Soulo are missing a trick IMO.

Works well on a 2B, I know lots of guys who use them. They sound great and work well.

It should be fine. I think those cups sound great - maybe give it a whirl first and then make adjustments if needed....

Thanks. I did get a reply, but they misread my mail and confirmed that a 'bucket mute' would fit. I got back to correct this but haven't heard back yet.
Is there much metal between the edge of the mute and the bell?

How about thicker corks to move the mute back ¼ inch or so?
King 2B bell is actually 7.38 in. diameter (7⅜") - pretty close to 7½".

The bell diameter of my K&H BvL is 180 mm (7.087″) so even a little smaller a 2B, but it's not the straight mute part that may be the problem, it's the cup over extending the bell.

Dude, they play and sound great! What exactly is concerning you? The clips on the Soulo are adjustable...
On my Bach 8 with a 7.5" bell the mute sounds great in both the tight and more open settings, the open is just a bit louder.

The thread is about a Soulo CUP mute, not a bucket. No clips.
