Yamaha 882GOR tenor trombone, .547 bore, 8.5” bell
I bought this instrument new several years ago, but it has only seen about 6 months of actual/full-time use. It’s been sitting on my equipment shelf, neglected, for most of its life. The horn is lonely, begs to be played, and needs a loving home.
Comes with the stock Yamaha leadpipe (never understood why Yamaha made a removable/threaded pipe when there are no options available), and also a Mount Vernon 42 replica pipe (seamed yellow brass) from BrassArk. With the custom threading it was a $200 leadpipe alone. Big/open sound! This horn is really a player, folks! This horn is mentioned in quite a few threads, and I think others can attest that it doesn’t disappoint.
Small acid bleed on bell (bought it that way at the local store). Also has a small scar on the bell from a repair – loading crew on a tour got a little carried away when loading a truck. Thought about giving them a scar too.
Comes with Yamaha case, and no mouthpiece. If you really need a mouthpiece, I can add one of my crappy ones for an outrageous price.
I would rate the slide 8.5/10. Valve works great. Horn likes Yamaha Slide Oil and Hetman Rotor Oil…doesn’t seem to agree with light rotor, FYI.
Fantastic horn! But I can’t justify having three large-bore tenors around…need to sell one in order to buy my wife nice things. New these retail for $3400 ($3600 including the leadpipe). Would like to recoup 65% of new value, so asking $2300 OBO. Always open to offers, but kindly request no lowballing. Since I am an incredible guy, or so my mother tells me, I’ll cover all shipping expenses within Continental US. My packaging skills are world-known, and could probably withstand a North Korean nuclear attack. Or at the very least a fall from a USPS truck.
Pictures available upon request.
