Greg Black can also do it.

I've had the best result, pitch-wise, with a Doug Elliott Conn shank, which (unlike Greg Black) is the same length as his standard shanks. I tend to play low on the pitch center, my 70H is a little long, and I'm used to big mouthpieces. The horn plays and sounds great for my purposes with an LB114/L/L8C.

+1 for Doug Elliott. I have since sold my 70H, but I got the best results with a setup from Doug (that I purchased from Gabe actually). He also makes a slightly smaller version of his Conn shanks if you prefer them to sit in the horn a little further. using the setup Gabe lists above the smaller shank would be L8Cs

When I was looking, I reached out to Laskey, Hammond, Greg Black and other similar mouthpiece makers and all either ignored my inquiry completely or quoted me a price that seemed like they were saying "I don't want to screw around with this, but if you pay this exorbitant price I'd consider it." This was admittedly about 4 years ago so policies/attitudes might have changed in the mean time. When I reached out, I asked for one of their standard mouthpieces with a Remington/Morse taper instead of the stock one. Of those that bothered to reply, I think all quoted me a price in line with a totally custom mouthpiece from them instead of a small upcharge to replace the standard taper with morse which to me did not seem reasonable.

The standard taper is Morse, I'm pretty sure.

Yes, Morse is the standard taper for most horns.

I can make lots of variations to fit older horns.

They're all the same price.

John Stork made me a couple. It was a custom request, however.

At one time, the shank on all standard production Schilke large bore mouthpieces was the Remington style. I have a 59 from that period, and it's for sale. Let me know if you're interested!

Pickett can make them, too. I bought mine second hand, so I don't know if it's an upcharge.

Schilke will make one on special order. I just had them make a 51C4 with an old style B&S taper shank.
