Hey all,
So it looks like the process for approving users is manually done at the moment. I'm working on fixing that so that it's like it is on the forum here; where the process can be done without approval. That also means that we don't get a notification when someone requests an account because of the way Wiki are configured. I'll check a few times a day for the next few days myself but if you submit a request and want to trigger us into accepting, reply to this post and as soon as one of us sees it, we'll approve the account.
Thanks!
Your 1,000 lira note would have been worth $1.60US. Better hang on to it! ;)
The Italians are politically unpredictable. Every now and then, it looks like they might do an Italian Brexit (would that be an "Ixit"?). I'll be ready with my 1,000 lira note.
Ultimately, of course, I'll be going in the direction of digital currency. My understanding is that the more bits you have, the wealthier you are. I have a LOT of bits around here. Many of them are on old CDs and DVDs, some on a few hard drives (one's a terabyte drive -- so that will be worth a lot). And I have a bunch of bits (especially valuable, I think) that are "legacy" bits on an old 9-track UNIX tape. There may even be some leftover IBM MVS bits on that tape as well (maybe my wife's Ph.D. dissertation in IBM Script format). Not to mention a few 5 1/4" and 3 1/2" floppy disks with additional legacy bits on them. I'm going to be in good shape for the bit-money revolution. :geek:

This talk of Italian currency reminds me of the saxophonist Al Cohn story shared by Bill Crow in his book “Jazz Anecdotes”, which is a great read.
Al was playing in Italy and it was the morning at his hotel. He’d had a lot to drink after the previous night’s gig and was feeling hungover.
When asked how he was feeling, he replied “like a million Lira”

Hello all.
Hello Gary Merrill .
You wrote 《Every now and then , it looks like they might do an Italian Brexit 》 .
I am not aware of what your media reports , but I can assure you that it would be more likely a Second Civil War would break out in the USA , rather than Italy deciding to leave the Euro !
I guess that you have to keep your 1000 lire bill as a souvenir ...
Regards
Giancarlo

Otherwise there appears to be much speculation in the international political and financial press about this issue since the ascendancy of Giorgia Meloni and her "Eurosceptic" or "Eurorealist" views. The idea of Italy leaving the EU may be somewhat farfetched -- but not unthinkable.

I plan to. :)

I'd say it's more likely with a "Breturn" than an "Ixit".
I have no doubts that Italian politicians see the overall benefits of the Union, no matter how sceptical and critical they may sound to their domestic voters.
There are politicians in many countries, including Sweden, whom holler about taking their countries out of the EU if they'd come to power, without any significant changes in opinions among the populations.

I really don't think this is a thing. None of the European main media talk about that. No European politicians talk about it. For now it's just a theory from some not very reliable media outlets.
Italy loses much more in quitting EU than it would win. And I have yet to hear about a referendum or even a petition in Italy talking about leaving EU.

I can confirm here is nothing going on like that. Italy gets so much money from the EU it would be suicide to leave the union. Maybe the neofashists leading the country at the moment have plans somewhere to make that, but at the moment it looks like they know that it wouldn‘t make sense to leave the EU.

Well, some light-hearted banter has now segued into a darkening political/ideological direction. So I'm out. But I still have 1,000 lira. :)

Hi all .
Meine wrote : 《Maybe the NEOFASCISTS leading the country ( Italy) at the moment ....etc》 .
At this point , I ask the Moderators to come in and to intervene to stop this .
Above , we are just talking about Finacial World related topics ( Italexit yes or not) , but now this thread have become politically oriented .
I think that Meine' statement is pretty offensive , being that NEOFASCIST is a word to define Politically Subversive Movements of a fascist nature , or a Country in which there is a Dictatorship inspired by fascism .
As far as I know , in this Trombone Chat there is no room for Political Debate , even in the "Tangence Section" .
So , despite I am not happy with our Leadership , I think that what Meine wrote is completely out of place , offensive , and not true .
Regards
Giancarlo

According to academics and neutral observers, what meine said about describing parts of the Italian government is correct. If there's room for political discussions in here, that is a mod decision. But this thread is definitely not the place for it.

Hello all.
@EriKon : above you wrote 《 If there' s room for political discussion in here , that is a mod decision》.
Well , you are totally wrong , because this decision has already BEEN made .
Just take a look to the NeoBri post " Trombone Chat Terms of Services (TOS)" , in the Announcements Section .
In the paragraph "Content" , he wrote : 《 Even in the Tangents Section we are limiting the subjects material strictly to topics that DOES NOT INVOLVE POLITICS , RELIGION ....etc》 . Then more : 《There are many places that one can go in the Internet that are better equipped to handle this type of discussions ( Politics , Religion , etc) 》 .
So , please stop this way of doing , because also your comment is completely out of place , offensive , and not true .
Regards
Giancarlo
