I know, it's just a Conn Director......but it's really in great shape, plays really well, and comes from the prime time Elkhart era.
I found it locally and picked it up to use while my beloved beat up Director bell was being repaired. Bell has a couple of small dings, slide very good, about 7.5/10. No inner slide wear. Lacquer is great, horn is nice and shiny. Case good as well. This horn probably wasn't used much.
Slide is .485 bore, yellow brass outers, brass sleeves.
Bell is 7.5 inch yellow brass, medium weight. Most of the classic .485 bore Conns had 7 inch bells, so this is a very interesting Conn configuration that has slightly wider sound than the 4H, 24H, 12H, 44H, etc.
This horn plays really nicely, with a warm sound at low volume, quite bright at higher volume. Can get a nasty little edge that's great for brass band, trad jazz, and salsa; but I used also it on a couple standard big band gigs, and a orchestral pops show.
This trombone needs nothing to get right to work, so at $250 including shipping, you really can't lose. Buy it to function as a back-up, an outside horn, a rowdy bar horn, or your main small bore tenor.
Questions, pics, and what-car-should-I-buy advice? Email me at luisalbertclifford@yahoo DOT com. Offers considered, but don't embarrass yourself with a sad, ultra lowball offer........ok?
