Price reduced to $500 or best offer. Can't find another serial number on the bell section - so all I have is the slide and rotor. Also considering trades now. Would like to try and move this soon, because I'm leaving town soon and only back mid-June.

Hi friends

I have for sale a nice playing Conn 88H that has seen better days. I am not the original owner, and I acquired this in a trade last year. I don't know the history of the horn, but the bell has gone through a lot of repairs as you can see. There is a razor thin crack in the bell near the brace which is about 1 inch in length. I don't know how it got there, but the bell seems to have undergone a lot of fixing, so maybe the metal was worn thin. The crack is shown in the 3rd image, and is really a bummer... but I'm guessing totally fixable?

The slide is pretty good, maybe a 7/10 with the right stuff on it - but it's showing wear at the end of the inner slides. The serial number is 33511. I'm not sure where that dates it, or the horn.

The rotor moves very well.

The horn plays great, and a remington shank mouthpiece fits very well. So, that info plus the slide serial number might date it?

Here are pictures:

I don't know what to charge for this. Because of the crack in the bell, and the clear extensive road wear, I was hoping to get something like 600 USD plus shipping. But I am completely open to offers, and I hope I've been as clear as possible about the condition of this instrument. EDIT: Price now $600 plus shipping

Bottom line is that I'm not using this horn, and want it to go to someone who will play it, or fix it, or whatever. Please make me an offer! I'm not looking for any trades right now.

Thanks

Serial Number seems incomplete. Elkhart SNs until ~1962 were 6 digits; then from ~1963 were 5 numerical digits with a letter prefix (e.g., G54321)

Posaunus, thanks - I'll look again but those were the only serial numbers I could find. Is there another place I should be looking? I could only locate one on the rotor, and one on the slide. Price lowered to 700. I'd like to get this to someone who will play it.

The serial number for Conns is either on the forward main bell brace, on the handslide cross brace or near the male taper.
