Another horn for sale. This one is a nice peashooter I picked up recently. It's a Committee Deluxe model, meaning nickel silver trim instead of plain brass. As you can see, the horn needs some loving. There are plenty of dents in the bell throat. It looks like somebody forced the coffin case down on the gooseneck, buckling the bell in front of the brace. The lacquer on the bell is great except for a spot near the brace (acid bleed) and near the rim wire (also acid bleed, probably).
Slide is 6/10, smooth but scratchy (noise). Definitely usable as is, but could use a really good cleaning. In addition, there is plating wear on the inners, and red rot on the outers near the stocking area. Crook looks to be in good shape. The plating wear was hard to capture with the photos- it's more speckling, as opposed to the localized "conn wear" you see on other horns.
These are interesting horns. While it's a little tight for me, this sounds way bigger than it is. Very even middle to high register. This horn will not turn into a buzz-saw, it just gets bigger. Thick sound.
