For Sale: Yamaha Custom Bousfield valve section, fully customized and set up to fit Edwards large-bore tenor trombones.

This valve section comes from a YSL-682B trombone, designed for Ian Bousfield, and made for just a couple years in the mid-90s. It has been set up to fit Edwards modular trombones, just like any of their Axial Flow or CR valves. The valve itself is an improvement on the Minick "Three-Port" design, and this particular valve's center (straight-through) port has been opened up to .562". Also, the entire section was given a cryogenic treatment at the Osmun shop. Finally, the original valve lever has been replaced with a ball-teflon socket design and wooden thumb lever. The sound on this valve section is round and fat, with lots of colors and good projection.

Price: $1300 shipped in CONUS. Will consider shipping internationally for the cost of shipping and insurance. Message me your email address for pics. Thanks!

How would you compare this to the Tru-Bore Valve?

Thanks for your question. The sound is bigger and rounder than a Tru-Bore. Additionally, I find that Tru-Bores tend to get bright and zippy in volumes above an easy Forte. This Bousfield valve stays round in loud volumes.
