Hello Chatters!
This Rath R3 is…special. It's been through some stuff apparently. And yet it's a GREAT player. It has a large-bore leadpipe in it and plays closer to .547" than .525" to me, but I've also been told that swapping the leadpipe out with a small bore will change that. Still it's a good balance against the nickel-silver bell. Ask me any questions you might have. Thanks!
Pictures tell the rest of the tale.

Make me an offer! My new email is the first letters of this little poem:
B-eautiful trombones are what we love,
K-iller Chops-Monsters we all wanna be,
B-illions & Billions of notes played,
I-terations of music profound,
Z-ygote. (I got nuthin')

Remember, my preferences:
* I strongly prefer to ship CONUS, but will consider shipping overseas
* I consider trades of professional-level instruments but prefer PayPal
* Buyer pays PayPal fees, if any (I prefer the Friends & Family option)
Thanks!

Neo I'm going to send you a email about this guy when I get home!
Also what's up with the lock nuts on the bracing? That isn't stock is it?

I can personally vouch for this one and there's a really small chance that you'd ever find something like this on the used market between the all-nickel bell and the bronze slide. Very interesting and lively combination! There's actually a bit of a story to this one that I'm a little hazy on the details but the short of it is that this was one of the first nickel bells that Rath produced!

Yes that actually IS stock for a Rath convertible bell section. The front main brace is the detachable as we all know & love, but the rear brace is actually an interesting pressure fit configuration. The brace screws onto a stud on one end and slips onto a pin on the other.

Neat! My R1 at least has a normal detachable bell section so I wasn't sure what was going on with the joints!

Hey, Salsabone. You'd have to contact Mick Rath I imagine. Still, good-playing horn.

Does it come with a case?
Does it come with other leadpipes?
How is the slide?
The pin joint near the tuning slide doesn't look 100% solid. Without being able to inspect the horn, and without a really clear description of the condition, and the special stuff this has been through, it's hard to tell exactly what's going on. Is there any looseness in the connection? Difficulty in assembly/disassembly? Does that joint effect the operation of the tuning slide? Any other information someone buying a horn might want to know?
