I have a Yamaha tenor trombone case. This case came with a King 2b I bought a while back; however, the King really didn't fit right because the bell section was too small and the slide crook was too rounded / long. My brass tech recognized this as a Yamaha case.

It is in usable shape and it can be in solid shape with a few simple repairs.

Good:
  • The inner padding is in decent condition. It's coming off the wall on one side of the slide compartment but that's easily fixable.
  • The outer shell is fairly clean without any major peeling. That isn't to say it's unblemished - there are small dings and scratches throughout.
  • Front latches are new.
  • The handle is in functional shape - rusted some, but won't fall apart any time soon.

Bad:
  • Many of the metal joints are rusted and not completely attached. 2 are completely missing. None of them are actively falling off, though.
  • The hinges on the back are kind of bent. The middle one is missing a pin. They're functional, but you'd have to replace them eventually.
  • There's only one bumper left on the bottom. One is just an empty hole and the other 2 are have screws sticking out.
  • The case was crooked when I got it. I had that fixed, but it's still just a tiny bit off.

If you buy it for a Yamaha tenor (no F attachment) and it doesn't fit, you can return it. I know that the bell section is too big for a King 2b and too small for a Conn Director (a student model). But that's all I can really tell you.
