1956 Reynolds single-valve bass trombone here. This is the 72-X Contempora "Philharmonic" model. Called the "Tangerine" model by DJ Kennedy. I had it cleaned, adjusted, and slide worked on not long ago. Needs nothing. Original case is rough by functional. Fantastic player! $750 included insured shipping

Nice!! Is the lacquer intact or is it polished raw brass? Seems like the lacquer on a lot of these horns doesn't survive through the years.

Almost all of the lacquer is there. And the bell is copper... so I guess it would develop an ugly green patina if you de-lacquered it...

Isn't the bell what Reynolds called Bronze-O-Lite or something like that. I think it was their "secret" formula of a mostly copper bell, but they added something to the mix.

Yes, I think you are right. Someone told me that it was copper but Contempora Corner suggests that many of these models used an alloy called Bronz-o-lite. I suppose 100% copper would be too soft...
