A new topic (2 of them actually) for something called X-Runner came up. I can't seem to report them. Left in place unapproved for you to see.

I think the new software must have gobbled it up in the last few minutes; I don't see it anymore. If you're on while it gets posted but before it gets sent of for analytics, it'll still delete the post. So what probably happened is it got deleted sometime between you recognizing it and it getting wiped.

Oh and as I mentioned maybe two weeks ago, I was job hunting so I was super busy flying doing interviews... flying in and out of the state and whatnot but I just accepted an offer... actually technically working out of Nantucket Massachusetts of all places but still living in UT. Full time remote so I'm going to have some time to dedicate to some of these other improvements I've been talking about. FINALLY. That includes possibly doing a little revamping of my own spambot checker.

Congrats on the new job.
If you look in the Moderator Log, Eric deleted both topics and banned the poster. I guess he doesn't trust your 'bot.

Oh haha well that also explains it!!
We're 'free' users of the service so it sometimes takes a few minutes. The extension also presently doesn't communicate reported spam. It just checks to see if its spam so it doesn't have a feedback loop like the wordpress extension does so it isn't perfect yet although it does appear to be catching quite a bit of it or perhaps you all are doing such a good job I just notice it less 😉

Sorry man, everything happened really quickly! Now that I'll be working full time remote I should definitely have the bandwidth to meet up more too. I can basically work whenever hours I'd like so long as I occasionally have meetings with my supervisor now. Just have to survive my 2 weeks notice period starting tomorrow

There was a new spam CVV2ME.something in Music Business that when I first opened it had no opportunity to report. I moved the post to the Litter Box and it then allowed me to report it as spam. Hope your 'bot finds it to delete. Otherwise, feel free.

Thanks Bruce; looks like the bot got it. I met with Brian yesterday and we have a game-plan for addressing the issue without incidentally banning a large segment of our userbase...

Got another one that can't be reported. This one is pushing for free cryptocurrency. I smell big scam.
Matt, you can examine it if Eric doesn't delete it first.
It showed a report icon when I moved it to the Litter Box. This posting is really confusing.

Thanks bruce, I'm going to try to implement our idea this weekend which... knock on wood... should take care of everything. I'm interested to see just how much spam we'll end up catching with it.

There is definitely something odd going on. Spam topics, mostly in Russian but not always, posted in Music Business have no "Report" button. But if I move them to the Litter Box, the report button appears. How are these folks managing to modify the standard postings?

Are they replies to existing threads? That isn't something I've been able to make a work-around for but I think I should be able to. I have enough data that you can also feel free to delete them at this point. I'm working two jobs until this Wednesday so I'm not going to have too much time to do much of anything today but next time maybe make a screenshot so I can see exactly what the issue is. I think if I just delete posts with links automatically that's going to take care of most of the spam issue. But if there are other edge cases or exceptions that is useful info

I just deleted two posts in Russian that came in APPROVED! He did two so he automatically set himself up for more.
Nobody approved the posts in the Moderator Log.
Next time I see one I'll try to do a screen shot but I felt this required immediate attention.
This is scary. Somebody figured out how to bypass our little rule.

Hm, looks like one of the messages forgot to turn off the default message for the software they're using to spam us, Xrumer. So that's going to help figure this out; leaving this here for my reference when I look into this

I'm now seeing a bunch of spambot ads for a Capcha killer in "Comments and Suggestions". It used to be confined to "Music Business". Wonder what the thinking is.

Probably looks for keywords in certain forums and when it sees them it starts spamming that one. I'm now finally actually getting caught up with having a baby lol Brian and I met up last week to do some Forum stuff. I think I can actually enhance the bot I wrote and just nuke the name of the product I'll just want to think it through so I don't accidentally delete someone legit who might make a typo. I'm not sure how you'd typo "XEvil" but... who knows
